Dental treatment can be hard for most adults, which means it can be quite difficult for most children. They don’t always understand why treatment is needed and focus on the drill or materials being used rather than the prevention it is used for. At Expressions Dental™, we try our best to make dental treatment a pleasant experience.

For first time children patients under the age of 3, we have the patient come in for a “happy visit” which essentially lets us show the patient all of the basic tools, the light, chair, etc. This lets the patient get comfortable with use before doing any actual work. At this appointment, the dentist will try to take a look in the patient’s mouth to make sure all appropriate teeth are coming in and no obvious decay is evident. Dietary habits and oral hygiene are also discussed.

Once the patient has allowed the dentist to take a look inside, the next course of action would be to polish the teeth and book in any appointments needed for dental fillings. If the patient is very nervous or scared, a referral to a Pedodontist is recommended.
